Fretless Players

Just out of curiosity; how many of us here on the forum have gone to the fretless side? I know there's alot of people here with multiple Warwicks to include fretless, but how many here are fretless only players? I can't be the only one, can I? :cry:
 
well, I have played upright longer than I have electric, does that count?
 
As of soon my main bass will be a fretless, and not too long after my second bass will be a fretless as well...

I guess I'll be a fretless-er...

My only Fretted will be my ABG...

I like the term "fretlessist".... there's alot of sss's and it kinda sounds naughty. :twisted:
 
Since I made the switch to fretless almost 2 yrs. ago I haven't looked back. I enjoy playing my bass as much today as I did when I picked it up at the store.
 
yeh, i really wanna do it, i think that my $$ will be the last fretted i ever have, its always good to have one of the other kind :D
 
well originally it was going 2 have them but i dont wanna ruin the beautiful piece of ebony :cry:
il just use sticky stars like wen u use 2 learn violin until i get it down :lol:
 
I'm a fretlessist :D Switched mid 2006 when I got my Warwick. Also play upright but only since early last year

Not a bad idea! If I ever go fretless, I want to do it unlined with dot inlays in the top of the neck but not on the front.
 
i was completely fretless for about 2 years had 5 string streamer rock bass then got my $$....but about 8months ago a gave in and got a fretted bass as i was getting into lots of funk and needed something to slap...

But i'd say i'm a fretless player thats able to play fretted if required.

That brings up a question I have always had... what is the real difference between fretted and fretless? Does it have that clean, smooth double-bass or jazz tone, or does it still growl and cut through the mix?

Can be either depending on how you play and what setup you have...
 
If you play agressively, a fretless will growl... especially if it's a warwick! :P
 
Mine sounds like a growly monster! Never done the standard fretless type style!
 
I play fretless from the beginning... and I love to play Jazz or Funk like Jamiroquai on my Yamaha... But in a few days i get my Warwick Thump 5 BO fretless
