Fretless intonation HELP!

Does anyone know how to work out the intonation on an unmarked fretboard? i have an old no-name FL without any markings on the neck and i'm pretty certain the intonation at the bridge is all out of whack. Is there a measurement where the 12th position (octave) should be where i could set the intonation? I think its an fender type 22 fret scale length.

Sure - where the "12th fret" harmonic sounds is directly above where the 12th fret would be.

Go ahead and set your intonation there.

The thing about fretless of course, is that if you feel a note is out of tune you can just go ahead and move your finger!

I do like being able to just move my finger placements but it seems like the some notes on the G are nearly 1cm off where they are on the E (checked with a tuner). The issue i have is knowing where the 12th fret would be this bass has NO MARKINGS, none, no fretlines, no dots, nothing. thats my problem, I could set intonation easily enough, as long as i know where the 12th is. I just need to find out where that is,

Golem told us that he did a different setup. I think the higher strings were slightly higher or something.
