Hans Platz, guitarist of the German folk metal band Feuerschwanz, presents the first prototype of his Framus signature guitar, the Firecaster. Based on a super strat design he grew up with, the guitar features several practical adjustments, including a fixed bridge, a curved arm contour, and improved access to higher frets. Platz explains his preference for fixed bridges due to their stability, sustain, and reduced setup effort compared to tremolo systems. The Firecaster is designed with a black finish and red accents, reflecting the visual theme associated with his band. The prototype includes Bare Knuckle pickups (Nailbomb and Cold Sweat), a 24-fret neck with a compound radius (12"–16"), locking tuners, and a reversed headstock inspired by 1980s designs. Built with an ash body, maple neck, and ebony fretboard, the guitar aims to balance clarity, punch, and playability. Platz emphasizes that the instrument is intended to appeal to a wide range of players, combining familiar ergonomics with versatile tones, including coil-split options that reference classic single-coil sounds.
