Framus 5/150 Starbass Re-issue Question........

Do any of you guys have experience with one of these? I received one recently and the control knob nearest the output jack has little, if any, effect on the tone. Framus lists the controls as volume - treble - bass, and if it's the bass control, it is definitely not working. It could be the treble I suppose, but the effect is slight. I couldn't even detect a difference by plucking an individual string. I had to play a measure or two to hear a difference from minimum to maximum, but that could be the way it is on this instrument. Hollow bodies tend to be kinda funky. However, the tone changes a great deal depending on where you strike the strings between the neck and the bridge. It is very retro and pretty:

Thanks, it is pretty, and seems well made. I have a "thing" for hollow and semi-hollow bodied basses. I don't know why. I don't really play them much. I will try a Warwick Starbass one of these days, but at this point, the 60's Baldwin Vibraslim is the best I have tried......by a long shot. It plays better and sounds MUCH better than anything else I have played in that category. They are semi-hollow with a center block, built like a friggin tank, and quite lovely to look at as well:
