I just saw that Dana B Goods, the former Warwick distributor in the US are getting rid of their remaining stock of necks. I saw a corvette neck listed on eBay for $200.
I just thought I would mention it. A warwick neck would sure make a nice start to a custom build project for you do-it-yourselfers.

I dont see why they cant sell off their remaining stock. They helped me, let them help others.
 
They are not really helping anyone really. Warwick policy is to REPLACE the necks not to sell wood, to have a market full of Frankestein Warwick basses.

So you don't buy an official neck, and if something happens you are not covered by warranty. I can see why some of you might be happy to find the missing neck, but trust me - sabotaging Warwick is not helping us building a better distribution in US.

BTW, they didn't bought the necks so yeah...
 
Being the exdistributor for Warwick and working against our policy it is not fair.
 
This is right. Dand B goods knows full well what the Warwick policy is on selling necks, and it's wrong for them to be doing it. They should send the necks back to Warwick IMHO.

I don't know this for a fact, but I'll speculate and say that I believe the necks would have been shipped by Warwick to Dana B Goods for free to be held in stock for warranty replacement work to facilitate a fast turnaround when a customer had a neck broken under warranty, not for sale.

Technically I'm betting they're still Warwick's property, and it's pretty poor form for Dana B Goods to be selling them on eBay.

Well, depending on the contract the necks may be still be property of Warwick and thus the unauthorised sale is theft. I hope Florin emailed the big guys, as this is not a nice move...businesswise as well as personally.

Not everything in business is fair. I am not defending DBG, but "fair" is a less than good metric for measuring business policy. We need the following info: what does the contract state regarding replacement parts and their "ownership", who broke contract with whom (good luck enforcing a contract you broke), and whether they have had any communications with H that we done know about.
 
yes, it all boils down to what contract is in action. ending a distribution contract does not necessarily sign over rights to spare parts, thus possibly only the great HP himself knows the exact legal situation and thus can act or not act on it. If it is not secured, then selling the remaining stock to clear storage is somewhat standard, albeit they could have asked Warwick or the new distributor to move the spares to a new location, which would be more professional in this case in my opinion.
 
Sorry guys I've a question: If I would exchange my Thumb BO neck with...don't know...a Wenge one...I cannot buy it from Warwick?!

No. One legit Warwick neck has always a body to go with. If customers want a Franken-wick, there is the Custom Shop here to offer you all the options you might be looking for. :-)

On the topic, if I may add my two cents, I could not care less what our former distributor is doing. I find it surprising, to say the least, that people don't see where the problem is to post links for sales that are not legit and obviously detrimental to Warwick, our partner in the US, as well as our customers, on the Warwick-owned forum.

But hey, that's just my personnal opinion... :)

Most of the customers for any given company have no idea of the exact company policies not to mention distribution policies or other policies and rules with their subcontractors and to be honest they are not obliged to. It's completely another issue if you know what's going on. You are a Warwick employee, most of us are customers.

So, If I would like to upgrade my Warwick bass I've to buy another...This is a real pity..I was planning an upgrade project...

Not much I can do about this. That's our policy, we stick to it. I doubt that any other major/high-end manufacturer offers body or necks to "upgrade" their instruments, with good reasons. :-)
 
Yeah!! I understand, I don't judge Warwick at all!! :)
I was planning to upgrade my Thumb and I thought to make a custom neck, that's all!! :)
 
I'm 100% behind Warwick's policy regarding necks. It makes me a proud owner knowing the neck and body were mated specifically and that's what makes the basses I own unique. The last thing we need is to be questioning the authenticity of a neck or body in the second hand market. Look at Fender for example. How many times have you seen people having to separate a neck and body to verify it being original. I would be a bit concerned after buying a used 'wick to find out the neck had been replaced. Unless it was done so by Warwick.
