Hey guys, most of you know I have an X-Treme 5.1. I also have a latching foot switch for it. What I'd like to do is get a stereo 1/4" jack and install it into the foot switch, then use a 1/4" TRS cable to connect the switch to the amp. The reason is I use my pedal board on a different amp for practice and then on my X-Treme for live situations so it would be nice to have a cable I could just unplug. Is this possible?

Sure! Some switches are built like that - check korg. Others... you can made them by cutting the wire and soldering a jack :-)

Thanks Florin. I figured this was pretty simple to do. Looks like I have a little project to look forward to. :)

Yeah Jeff, it's really simple. The hardest thing you will do is have to figure out which of the wires (after you cut it) goes to the ring, and which one goes to the tip. Worst case scenario is you wire it backwards, making the labels on the pedal wrong.

When I had an EA iAmp Micro, I made a stereo footswitch for the amp. I'm surprised that more people don't offer footswitches with separate cords. Sure, there may be some more upfront cost involved, but every time I've heard of someone replacing a footswitch, it's been because the attached cable somehow got ruined.
