FNA Jazzman vs. Streamer Jazzman

Hey guys, I'm looking at something new and I wanted to get your thoughts.

I currently have an SSII (wenge, bubinga, 2 jazz PU) and I have really been looking into a Streamer Jazzman. However, it seems that 9 times out of 10, the FNA Jazzman sells cheaper.

OK, so they are both figured maple over swamp ash, ovangkol neck with wenge board, "Jazzman" configuration... so is the only difference the body shape?

I think having a second bass that uses totally and tonally different woods is a good thing. Any thoughts.
 
The main difference is the body shape (which is VERY important for me, as I love the Streamer shape and don't like the Corvette shape), but the wood thickness too. The Streamer has a 1" maple top on ash body, whereas the Corvette has a 3/8" maple top on ash. More maple on the Streamer.
 
Any of them is a good option. IIRC, they sound a little bit different, or feel a little bit different :-) If you have already a streamer, I guess you better buy the streamer one, as it will be a familiar shape.

Btw, I seriously doubt your SSII is bubinga. A lot of people take aged Afzelia as Bubinga :-)
 
Do they both have coil tap capability like the Streamer does with the toggle switch? I notice the FNA Jazzmans don't have the toggle switch.

I agree, I like the streamer shape better too... also:

Re: bubinga body... I am just going by what the original owner and H.P. Wilfer told me. In Mr. Wilfer's words...

"Body Wood: it is defently Bubinga ! This is one of the few pieces we made in this time !" and "it
is true that 99% of the Streamer Stage II are made in Afzelia but we did a few pieces in bubinga as well..."

Doesn't really matter to me... I know it sounds amazing either way! Cheers!
 
I'm looking at a used one that has a Maple fretboard and dosn't have the 3 way humbucker selector. Not sure why or if there is some other way to coil tap the pickup. I think it is one of the Guitar Center Specail Run ones. The owner doesn't know either.

This is the bass. I guess it is a GC SE. Not sure I want it since it doen't have Passive pickups and only a 2-way eq and no coil tap.
 
Interesting... I think I'll be looking for the Streamer Jazzman anyway... I much prefer that body shape.
