It looks like in the next week or so, I'm going to become the owner of an FNA Jazzman LTD 2004. The only other Warwick I've owned is an older Thumb BO.

Regarding the FNA Jazzman LTD 2004, I've been able to find very little info about the bass. Can anyone with any experience with this bass, give me some insight on it? What to expect?

Thanks,
LeonD

Aren't you suppose to ask questions before you buy? :P

In case you hadn't found it yet, here's a good place to start:

Warwick Basses Amps & Rock'n Roll

Sometimes in this internet world, you have to commit before you buy. Based on what I read and hear about Warwick basses in general and this one specifically, this one looks like one I'd be interested in.

I did find that web page. I was hoping to get some personal experience with the bass.

On another note, I tried using the search on this forum to find information. I didn't find anything. The search seems to take me back only about a month. Am I missing something here?

Thanks for the reply.

Hey there! While I don't have any personal experience with the 2004 LTD, many great things have been said about them on this forum. I did a little searching and was able to pull some stuff up. Hope this helps:

Thanks for the reply.

When I click on your link, I get the following:

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

Maybe something's off with my forum settings?

Hi Leond,

In this case you made an excellent choice, even without trying. This is one of the coolest Warwick Basses ever made!
Do a search on the forum, you will find enough good infos about it :-)Just use the "search" function.

I just tried using the search function to track things down about this bass, and it ain't easy. Nizzrooster's link just came up with "no matches", and putting "2004" in just gives two threads - this one and one about changing your jack! OTOH, I remembered Golem posting about this bass, and searching for his posts turned up this thread:

I'm sure there's more on the forum, but that's a good place to start.

I guess that link only works for me, eh?

Use the Advanced Search link, then type in "2004 LTD" or something similar, then choose the "Search Titles Only" option, then search. You should come up with 2 pages of full of related threads.

Yeah, that link must only work for you. But you're right, now if I search for 2004 I get loads of results. Am I losing it, or has somebody been changing the search settings?

And I thought as a newbie, I needed to know a secret handshake or code word to get the search to work.

:-)

Works well now.

So it looks like I'll have the FNA Jazzman LTD 2004 late next week. My next questions is what exactly am I getting?

I understand it was a limited run of instruments made in 2004. I found the specifics on the web site. And that the term Jazzman refers to the pickup / electronic configuration.

Other than that, what is an FNA? Is it a type of Corvette? Or is it a discontinued body? And if it is discontinued, how is it different from the Corvette? They look similar.

Thanks again,
Leon

Hi Leon,

It is the same body shape, it is basically a Corvette with nicer woods and electronics.

Please post pics when you het it :-)
You will love that bass!

I've got one and use it as my main Bass.
I Absolutely love it, so versatile and toneful. Where can I satrt.
The MEC 3 way active pre amp gives me tone options for days but combined with the pick up switching, where I can switch from series to Parallel, single to humbuck mode, there are tone possibilities which I still haven't discovered in 5 years of owning it.
It stays in tune forever. We've had a run of hot humid weather in my area over the summer, my bass goes in and out of air conditioning and transported in a sometimes hot car, but she's mostly stable and ready to play with just a tweak. The neck is as flat as a Labrador nailed to the ground by his ears and the electronics dead quiet.
Apart from all the technical features, she looks beautiful.

Let us know how you enjoy yours
