Fixing scratches/gashes.

So there's this black Corvette passive/ash 5er on the wall at my local guitar center and they only want $694 for it new, but the problem is it has a pretty hefty rash on the finish, it doesn't go through to the wood but it manifests itself in a bunch of silverish marks in the black oil finish. I was wondering if there are any ways to buff these out, because it's a nice bass for a really good price.

you might be able to buff them out enough to make them less of an eye sore. but you would also have to buff out the whole bass to give it a uniformed look. buffing one spot might draw more attention to it.
the price is right for sure!!!!!!!!!!
