Played a party a couple of weeks ago and got this excellent shot of my bass.

i also had my first gig recently (and also with a corvette, swamp ash tho).
and a very sweet studio.
 
Nice bass and it's great to see another musician from the "great" state of South Carolina...
 
Yeah it was made in '08. That studio is owned by a local guy here from Charleston, his name is Eric Bass, he plays bass for Shinedown now, lucky mofo. :)

What part of SC are you from lasteffect?
 
Bennettsville, it's a part of Marlboro County, which is between Larenberg (NC) and Florence (I believe, my geology might be a little off).

And that's pretty cool to hear about being in a famous dude's studio to record. So, you met the guy, Eric Bass, and was he cool?

And that studio layout look similar to one in Florence, I went in with my cousin (he was recording stuff and I just wanted to hang with him). It looks a lot like it, but right where the stairs are, there's the owner's drum set. Maybe the both used the same layout. The only interesting thing about the one I went in was someone's single was going to be used for the next Dennis the Menace film, but the film was shut down or something.

Eric has been touring with Shinedown for quite a while. A guy name Eric Rickkert(sp?) runs the studio. He's a cool and all but he's a drummer. So the drums in our recording sound awesome while the bass was more of an after thought. The thing is we went in there for one day and recorded five songs all live. It was really rushed. I took my Ampeg head with me but he couldn't get his XLR cable to stay in so I ended up just recording straight in and it really doesn't sound very good. Next time I record I'm taking my entire bass rig and I'm just gonna mic it.

When we play live I'm just as loud if not louder then the guitar. The bass really sticks out, I use an Ibazez tube screamer pedal to get some overdrive, it really helps the bass cut through.

Like I said, these recordings do not do the Warwick Corvette any justice.

We're trying to do more sludge/doom/stoner type of music. The best songs we have are our new ones which didn't get recorded.
 
Sounds really cool. I couldn't get the music player working, so I watched your vid, and I liked it... except the singer. I dunno, I just don't like his sound, if it was more guttural, then I'd love it, but that's just me. Your tone is loud and obnoxious. It definitely over powers the guitars, but I can still hear their tone, and I like it.
 
..but man, it's a video. i think the singer sounds really good. he maybe needs to practice to maintain screams longer, but i think he does a good job.

Tho I'm not a big fan of da style, I really enjoyed listening to da clipzz...too bad da video's got such a crappy sound, but I sure dig da sound of yo distorted Wick...
ow and about da singer...I think ya should try to get that music player working Lasteffect, cause imho that dude's doing an awesum job !! :lol:
 
Thanks for the feedback, it's hard to get honest opinions from people you know. Theres no better place for brutal honesty then the internet!

Our music isn't for everyone, thats for sure. As far as the loud and obnoxious tone, I'd have to say that right now I don't really have a tone that I would call mine. I'm trying to get more of a fuzz sound then distortion, I just haven't found the right pedal yet. I'm having a hard time pulling the trigger on buying a 200 to 300 dollar boutique pedal without trying it out first. I'm going to keep working on it. The video was recorded with a hand held camera and we were playing outside just through our amps. If the person holding it was to move a couple of feet to the left you would hear nothing but guitar. I was pretty loud though. :twisted:

Anyway, we have a lot of shows booked for next month and we're even going on the road for five days so hopefully I'll have more pictures of the Vette in action and maby some better sounding video.
