Just to let yous know I just strung my 4 string fretted with EMP medium gauge strings and well... Holy mother of doug this is the pack of strings to rule them all and in darkness bind them.

If you get the chance to, do check them out ladies and gents these are great strings! I get clear highs and tight lows using these while maintaining the strong mids while I always felt my bass was sounding oldskool it just got a serious upgrade through err well yeah - other strings. I just started loving my lolphin even more then I already did. Wow just wow. I used to play DR and Rotosound.

i won last year six sets of them and strung the first two sets 3 weeks ago. on both the e-string died soundwise :( it really upsets me because i'm doing recordings right now with my band and had to replace them with some cheap dean markley nickels.

i once had a set with a new neckthru corvette which sounded really cool and lasted long.

no offense warwick i like the emp but the elixiers are lasting longer and soundwise i'll surely stick to fodera and sadowsky.
 
E string dead (as in losing tonality) on two sets huh? That kinda sucks m8.
Anyone else had this problem? My EMP have only been on the bass for a couple of hours yet and so far I love em.

I always hated any coated strings I tried, elixirs being the worst that's all. I kinda expected the EMP to be so-so but they really sound great.
 
Yeah, I might give these a try eventually, I hear so much good about them. Elixirs never floated my boat either.
 
I love my EMPs! The EMPs on my fretted Corvette are about 8 months old now, and I'm only just starting to hear them fall off a little in the tone department. That's pretty great. They still sound good though, and I reckon they've still got a couple of months left in them.

sadowsky black labels (stainless roundwound normal gauge) my all time favourites!


fodera only when i get them cheap! expensive but the best bass-strings ever made if you ask me...
 
Herbie, that's weird. I play exclusively EMP for 5 years now, and never had a lemon. I also sell them, and no complains so far.

I've seen on the other hand guys with really bad acid sweat, and EMP's were not good for them. Like they could make any set of strings die in 5 minutes.
 
I love EMP's got a set from the very first Christmas photo contest. I only wish I could afford to use them all the time :/

CliffHNZ and I were talking about recording with the Blue Cab 60.1 via PM the other day, and this is a clip I recorded also to provide an example of recording with the line out of the Blue Cab 60.1 - it sounds pretty good to me - nice and clean ;)

The recording setup is as follows:
  • Drum track made in Hydrogen Advanced Drum Machine on Ubuntu Linux
  • Drum track exported from Hydrogen as a .wav file and imported into Audacity
  • Bass Track recorded via the line out of my Blue Cab 60.1 into an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB into Audacity
  • Guitar Track recorded also via the line out of my Blue Cab 60.1 into an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB into Audacity (sorry about the guitar track... I'm no guitarist! :lol:)
  • All EQ for both the bass and guitar tracks flat right across the board
  • No further adjustments in Audacity except for a little time shift to account for latency and a slight level adjustment to bring the bass to the front of the mix a little
  • Audacity project exported to 128k mp3
That's it.
