I am wondering about the factory set up. What is the spacing between the string and the fret. I have a warwick streamer stage 2 5 string with a really low action which really hurts my thumb when i slap. Yet the sound is very trebly and undefine. This set up is due to the setting done by a guitar shop where I last left to set up. By the way I used to be in canberra, Australia and the music store there was better music, they did a very good job at setting it up. Now in Washington DC, I have no idea whre to set them up. The last place where I set it up as I said before did a sloppy job.

This link is a PDF file attatched to this website,it covers factory set-up etc.String height is mentioned under the heading,"Adjusting the bridge".Page 15.

Hey cascadelight. This is a job you should do it by yourself IMHO.
1. Check if the release is ok,
2. check if the strings are following the neck's radius.
3. Then play with the whole bridge, that's the beauty of W's bridges. I have 2 -2 mm at G string, and 3 mm at B string

4. set the intonation

I use allen wrench to measure the string height ;-)

Feeler gauges are great for doing the string height, the same tool you use to gap your spark plugs.

That's a good idea with the spark plug gappers. I just changed my plugs, an now I think I'll change my strings....!!
