Hi i no nothing about eqs or amps and i just got a corvette and normally i drop the midds out of the eq and boost the treble but that is making it sound like crap so anyone got any tips for me

Are you playing with a band or solo? Be careful about dropping the mids if you're playing with a band - it's a quick way to get yourself lost in the mix.
As for the EQ - a little goes a long way. I'd start flat and go from there. If you don't like the tone flat, try adjusting each EQ section individually (and then returning it to it's flat setting) to get a feel for the frequencies each knob and button take care of.
Once you have a better odea of the frequencies they control, you can go ahead and make some changes in the areas you want to cut or boost.
Personally, I play pretty much flat on the amp, and only make small adjustments for the room if necessary, but you tonal requirements may differ

You have a Corvette $$ NT ash... Now... ash can be a little bit muddy, Humbuckers too.
In this case it is a bad Idea to cut mids, and 800 HZ it is a very bad idea if you ask me
I keep those mids full up usually, and start the amp tweakings from there

Have you ever tried any streamer especially the Stage II? i have tried most covettes including the FNA which is the best corvette there is but they're nothing compared to a SSII which is totally superiour on stage, i can know this because i tried both of them on stage. on the other hand it IS a matter of taste and i tried it on dance music and not metal or anything like that... :twisted: it is just not worth calling some models names (as if they are persons?!) it just triggers other people to (sometimes bad ) reactions which is sometime hilarious but also gives some posts a 'dark' atmosphere :cry:

I can give you more tips if you like, but ... you know... they are personal tips, not rules to follow:
- Don't use both pickups in humbucker mode.
IMHO, this bass's main sound is with bridge pickup alone... in parrallel mode.
You can use it is series mode as well
You can blend a little the neck pickup in single coil mode.
Use both pickups in single coil mode.

My advice would be to use your ear, try all of the eq you have to get familiar with the frequencies and what they do, because when you will get in a band situation you will have to start over to find your place in the band sound. I understand cutting mids makes the bass sound smoother to yr. ear, it is true unless there are no drums and guitars around. Warwcik basses have the cutting through midrange that makes them sound the way they do, remember that. I finally installed the 3way eq on my thumb BO 5 and got additional control over the mids.
I wouldn't exaggerate in the 40-60 HZ area, but concentrate more on maybe even boosting 80Hz and 2kHz a bit, the rest is up to yr ear, don't be afraid to experiment.

Ok so I have, uhmm, on my amp I boost the mids about three quarters of the way up, then I turn the bass pretty much all the way up, and the treble half way up, Then on the EQ on the amp It sorta looks like a wave, The Bass is boosted, then it sorta falls down, then the mid is boosted, then it goes down, and then the treble is boosted, on my bass, I am about 70% on the B PU, and I boost the treble a little bit, leave the bass normal, and the first switch, the one that controls the neck pickup is up (towards the strings) and the other switch is down (away from the strings), that is what I do
