Hi Guys,

Here's a clip of some EMPs on my Ash Corvette STD. The EMPs are about 8 months old, but still sound great!

CliffHNZ and I were talking about recording with the Blue Cab 60.1 via PM the other day, so this is also an example of recording with the line out of the Blue Cab 60.1 - it sounds pretty good to me - nice and clean ;)

The recording setup is as follows:
  • Drum track made in Hydrogen Advanced Drum Machine on Ubuntu Linux
  • Drum track exported from Hydrogen as a .wav file and imported into Audacity
  • Bass Track recorded via the line out of my Blue Cab 60.1 into an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB into Audacity
  • Guitar Track recorded also via the line out of my Blue Cab 60.1 into an M-Audio Mobile Pre USB into Audacity (sorry about the guitar track... I'm no guitarist! :lol:)
  • All EQ for both the bass and guitar tracks flat right across the board
  • No further adjustments in Audacity except for a little time shift to account for latency and a slight level adjustment to bring the bass to the front of the mix a little
  • Audacity project exported to 128k mp3
That's it.

Sounding great all around :) I can't believe how bright those strings still sound after 8 months. I've beaten the absolute hell out of my strings I told you about. Finally going to change them after the same amount of time. I'm jealous too. My Fast Track is hissy as all get out and yours is dead quiet! :) Thanks for upping this. You now have me getting ready to order a set of EMPs lol

That's really what it sounds like in real life... everything on the bass and amp completely flat in the recording.

And thanx for mentioning Hydrogen, I was looking for a "drum machine" for Ubuntu. ;)

No worries - and thanks for the kind words.

Hydrogen is a really great drum machine for Ubuntu. One important tip is that it does not perform well with ALSA, be sure to install JACK as a sound driver and configure Hydrogen to use JACK in audio preferences, otherwise you're likely to experience choppy and distorted playback.

At the command line, you can simply install JACK as follows:

sudo apt-get install jackd

Also - possibly worth a try, and something I'll probably do soon is run Ubuntu Studio, a release of Ubuntu optimised with a real-time kernel and a bunch of great apps for audio and video recording.

Very nice sounding strings. Thanks for the clip. It's overwhelming that the strings are 8-months old and still sound like that with EQ flat. Impressive.
 
Thanks guys - yep... they're impressive strings.

They sound as good as Black Labels, and last for ages.
