Hey everyone, thanks to CeeJ, i have fallen in love with the Dolphin, and since i am 15 a Pro is out of the question, so ive been thinking about a Dolphin SN after mysummer job is over (caddying at a country club, thats how i got my Corvette $$), but ive heard bad things about Set necks (Twistyness etc.), does this apply to Warwicks? (I know theyve beeen disvcontinued but i know a place that has had one for some time now)

I've heard some problems with set necks in general as well. But I haven't read anything about Warwicks suffering from these problems.......There are just a few guys here that I know of who have a set neck Warwick, and they haven't reported anything unusual........... :roll:

Ceej sure has some nice Dolphins,the best collection I've seen.
Now Warwick have discontinued their SN models but that isnt because they are any less of a bass.I know several people with Warwick SN's & have never heard of any problems with the design.The neck goes deeper into the body than most other SN's from other manufacturers.
Remember that all new Warwicks come with a 2 year warranty to the original owner,so if something does go wrong,you're covered.

oh ok i see, ive heard stuff about gibson's necks going out of wack to wear theyre unusable, but since the Dolphin's neck goes deeper into the body it seems logical that it would be a better design, also i turn 16 this summer so ill probably get a decent amount of money from that too.
 
I don't know why a set neck, even one made like a Gibson, would be more prone to twisting than a bolt on. After all these centuries Gibson's still one of the top makers of big money guits and basses. If they were prone to these types of problems I don't think people would drop that kind of money on them.

BTW I have a Dolphin SN, absolutely love it, and in ways prefer it to the Pro, I like the look of the afzelia more than the ovangkol. And it's more like a hidden neck through than traditional set neck IMHO, since the neck goes about halfway into the body.

Hey Jesse,
I don't think set necks will twist easier than BO or NT's . Warwick necks are really stable anyway...
 
My Infinity SN has been my main player since 2005 and the neck shows no signs of "twistyness". It's still perfect. Like the day I got it.
 
ive actually been thinking about getting an Infinity SN, how does the size of the body/neck compare with the size of a corvette?

No problem mate. Also keep in mind EVERY decent acoustic guitar is set neck. :wink:

I guess so is every violin, viola, cello, etc.

Any type of design can have the neck twist, prolly more to do with how the instrument was treated than anything else. Worst neck twist I ever saw was on a Rickenbacker, which has a through neck and 2 truss rods.

It's a little smaller & much sexier.NHS.
 
Really now? i actually thought that the body would be a bit wider than the corvette, thinner yes

I think the Zebrano wood makes it a little heavier but not too much. It has the Tone Chamber System so the hollowed out portions of the body help lighten the load a bit.
 
well i have a neotech strap so i should be okay there
 
The Infinity SN is surprisingly light.The tone is to die for.
 
i think if i were to get one id get it painted black, because i love the way the one from norther looks
