Here's a short clip in four parts to give you an idea of what these two Darkglass pedals sound like amped and using a proper bass guitar.

First there's the Dolphin through D.I. directly
Then the vtbass is added to mimic an amplifier
Third part the vintage microtubes is kicked in together with vtbass
Fourth part the b3k is kicked in together with the vtbass

Enjoy.

And no I didn't play anything particular, this is not a song but I was just doing my usual "let's kill these strings" thing.

Crappy iPad does not show mp3 controls. Here's a direct link:

I gotta state that I used a Trace Elliot amp's D.I. to record, with the pre-shape and dual band compressor circuits kicked in folks. This makes the Dolphin sound more compact and thicker then it is by itself. The Dolphin had the twinjazz in single mode to bring out more rawness, it sounds smoother in dual coil mode.

Personally I could see myself using the third tone setting in the metal band I'm in.
Great demo!

Also liked number 3 here, and good sound also on the VTbass (Number 2)

Everything sounds very thick. Loved the b3k part. :-)

I like it, I am thinking to buy one too, for more dirt :-) Let's see how my new bass sounds, hihihi :-)

Nice clip, Le Marco. That vintage microtubes is something to have in mind, yes sir, really nice sound.

Marco, can you make a clip with the b3k where it's just a tiny bit of grit?

Raimond I have taken the B3K as low as it can go with overdrive but it is still pretty hot when you dig in.
I have recorded three parts this time, each with a bit of slap and fingerstyle to let you hear both with the pedals.

1. Vintage Microtubes with less overdrive (but can still go lower) - first slap then fingerstyle
2. B3K with overdrive turned down to its minimum - first slap then fingerstyle
3. Both pedals kicked in - first fingerstyle then slap

As the VTbass was left out this time round, the sound is more direct. I prefer it with the VTbass but this lets you hear what the Darkglass pedals do a little better.

I think the overdriven tone with both pedals kicked in is pretty sweet. What do you think?
Either way I am glad to have purchased both.

Cheers, Marco

Thanks, well that last tone is badasssssssssssss! , but for my music these days I want to have just a bit of grit, maybe more for myself than for the audience really. In that regard I really enjoyed the Vintage Microtubes. Great stuff Marco.

Thanks for the additional clip Marco. Just when I wanted to ask for just the darkglass pedals. The sound with both on is indeed very nice.

This inspired me to keep my VT Bass that I had for sale, and have Putnam modify it for DI/pre-post/ground lift.

It really brings the tone to life dunnit?
I love my VTbass. Might sell it and get the new D.I. version of it.
