dolphin pro II ...bargain ?

Hi folks,
After a year playing my gorgeous std bubinga fretless from 98, I would like to buy a fretted model as well. Originally I had a streamer in mind, but I discovered I like the Dolphin more. I found a discounted model on the internet . A dolphin pro II , nirvana black (sorry no pics available).
The price seems pretty reasonable (800 euro, new) and I was wondering what kind of neck joint was used for this type...there's so little information available on the net, so I'm turning to you, guys. Before Before I take the long trip for a trial, I would like to hear your opinion.
 
The Doplhin II was made in Japan in the early nineties.
I don't think it could be brand new today, neither I would pay 800 euro for it.

It just ain't a real Warwick, IMHO.
 
I think warwick discontinued it because it was giving them a bad name. :?

from the last meshuggah dvd i saw, it looks like he's playing a custom shop pro-I in nirvana black :D
 
The Dolphin Pro 2 is the bastard child of the Warwick line up.Warwick contracted a company to build them but they were selling basses out their back door & the finished product could leave alot to be desired so the relationship was terminated & ended rather badly but on the upside,if you love the Dolphin bass you can buy a real Warwick Dolphin from a dealer or get one custom built which is always a joyous event.

Apart from Rockbasses, and the acoustic Alien, the Dolphin II is the only one.
It was produced in Japan in 1992-1994
 
it would be kinda cool to own one from a warwick enthusiast point of view, but yeah, the quality is way sub-par and theyonly produced for a fe w years. I would probably grab one if I had the chance, but only because I love collecting basses and such.....
