Hi,

My covers band Dogman is starting to gain some momentum and we packed out Newcastle's biggest rock bar on Saturday for a great gig.

My amp has increased a bit. Still Thunderfunk 550A head, but I've added a vintage 2x10 to the vintage 4x10 Trace Elliot cab.

Infinity NT still sounding unbelievable in all situations. What a bass! :lol:

Bass tone is awesome, as usual Neil.
There's a used Thunderfunk TFB550B for sale over here, for about $1500AU. The TFB750A lists for about $2850AU, so it seems like an ok price from a shop.
After hearing your tone, I'm very tempted to borrow the money for it.

That is amazing coverage on the bass man. I've seen Norwood play it a million times and you nailed it pretty much! Here is me and Wood after a show here in Las Vegas. I got a Thumb 5 B/O because of the tone on that album. Finally!

Greg I would recommend you try the head. However it is hand built so expect some idiosyncracies....

1. The mute button also mutes the tuner out. Doh! Which is when I most want to mute!
2. Mine can pop a bit when turning on or off so I need to drop the volume to avoid spiking my speakers. This may be a fault with my particular amp though as it was second hand.

Apart from that, I think the best thing Ii can say is that, I think it's worth every penny of the full retail price. And any sound guy/studio engineer will love you for the DI that comes with this amp - integrated volume and ground lift circuitry and an awesome tone.

Doug - I've been a thumb 5 NT player since the early 90s. Before I realised Norwood played one. I was looking for a second bass and couldn't find anything that matched up to the thumb for tone and mid range punch (I bought a gorgeous SS1 for a while). I then saw Fishbone in 2008 and saw Norwood using an identical Infinity to the one there, and was blown away by the tone. I had a chat to him afterwards and he said that as a live bass the Infinity is amazing, although it takes some taming in the studio. I'd have to agree with him. Norwood spent ages talking Warwick's with me - a thoroughly nice guy. The Infinity is now my main bass, with the thumb spending more time being recorded than played live.

Neil. What is the advantage/disadvantages between the two basses? Never played the Infinity. That's what he has in his gig bag on his back. I always help em' load in and out after gigs when I see them. He seems to do all the work ahah!Humbling myself before the master. Haha! They should have a massive crew to tend to them but ...?
There is an amazing new full length movie about Fishbone called Everyday Sunshine that chronicles their entire history with footage from the era when you met him so you may well have been a the gig man!
It's an amazing documentary about why they aren't rich and famous and covers all the sh♣t they have gone through with labels and band members too!
It's on the festival circuit right now getting tons of great reviews.

As soon as the Film becomes available for public viewing I'll let you know. The band has been doing screening followed by a live performance at selected locations. I've seen the film being advertised. Can't wait to see it. Fishbone and Kings X are probably my two favourite bands.

Infinity/Thumb. The Infinity has a massive bottom end and a more mainstream warmth to it, but retains the mid range punch of the thumb. I'd call it a cross of the best bits between the SS1 and the Thumb NT. If you get the chance to try one I'd recommend it. Mmmmm.

Original stuff.... I have an original band called 300ft Gorilla which is the same lead guitarist and drummer. 300ft's singer is ill at the moment, so we started doing covers for a laugh with this new singer. The 300ft singer has now retired due to ill health :( Not sure what we're going to do about resurrecting 300ft - Our Dogman singer has another originals band whe works with. We'll see in 2011. Thanks. Loving the pics of your Infinette on the other thread. Was that one of Warwickhunt's? Lovely basses those. I would have been very tempted to buy that if it was a 5er
