if it is painted, it doesn't need to be waxed. natural oil finished warwicks are those that requires beeswax.
cuz the wax seals the woodpores where moist could seep in. it protects the wood against humidity.
thus, if your axe is coated, by paint or by beeswax,
it is protected.

Yeah, Im getting conflicting answers on this. I need to do bass maintenance tonight, so if anyone could help me, that would rule.

I am inclined to believe Ollie, of course, but Ive seen a lot of differing opinions. I guess it happens.

I wish someone would clarify this, the types of finishes available and which ones require waxing and which don't. Is it possible to finish a Corvette Bubinga so that it does not require waxing? (Preserving the natural color of course) Also if this would have any ill effects on the sound of the instrument.

I made a mistake in this one and I take it back. The bleached Blonde DOES NOT need to be waxed. I'm sorry.

Thanks Ollie, I was just going to reply on that. It is a matte finish and not all natural. I would have been sad otherwise because it would have meant that I missed waxing a bass for some time :wink:

Yepp, but my pesonal opinion is that the natural wood just become more beautiful over the years with waxing every now and then / mats
