Hello, I am a framus owner, I have owned several Frami during my life, most recently a Mayfied tears of Dracula.
Anyway. I still have my first electric, which is a Riviera ( black rose finish) serial number 5/54 45353. This guitar has definitely reached the end of the road, it has serious structural issues and is beyond reasonable repair.
However the pickups still have a lot of "kick" in them and it has been suggested that they look identical to the "vintage" pickups which are supplied in the new Hollywoods.
I have stripped the pickups from the old guitar and basically they are just big chunks of cream coloured plastic, but they still work, and it did occur to me that if I fitted them in a modern guitar I could hear the voice of my beloved 5/54 45353 all over again, it would be like being 16 again.
Does anyone know whether the old. "real" vintage pickups would be an exact replacement for the pickups in a modern Hollywood? - are their dimensions identical? - has anyone ever done this?
