Different sounds help?

Right my foot switch for the x-treme has turned up. I'm having a hard time trying to get two good sounds. I'm using a $$ in drop c. I need one that's going to be a good distorted sound and all I have for that is a digitech bass driver. The difficult bit is getting a distorted sound that isn't fizzy.

I also need a good meaty sound that has clarity all across the strings.

Now because it has one sound that you can add to rather than two seperate channels, it's difficult getting one to sound good without getting the other one to sound the same.

Any suggestions other than save up and buy a £200 valve overdrive pedal?

I have met the same issue! I wanted a drive flavor and for that I used Sansamp before the ashdown amp. I managed to get a very tight tone for my taste with enough high mids... my problem is now that my amp is broken, and last 4 gigs I played with different amps, so my settings for sansamp were not that good anymore.

I've read some materials on the web, and I want to try to get into PA with 2 channels, one with drive from my pedal, and a clean tone from the amp. From what I've read, this is a very common setup for the bassists that use a distorted tone.
So in this way, the clean signal is there no matter what, and when you hit the drive, it just adds some flavor over the clean one. But in this way you can hear the difference only on PA and on the stage monitors...

Or use the pedal in the parallel loop of your XTREME, and blend it by taste :-)
