Hi there,
A bottle at the sea
Anyone here could give me details on my thumb?
I've been asking and sent pictures to Warwick directly but they've never answered:((
Model: Thumb BO
Serial: G-051048-98
I'd like to know which type of wood was used for the body, it doesn't like bubinga to me

Thx in advance for any answer

Hi ATom,

That should be ovankol body, with wenge or ovankol neck. If the neck looks like the fingerboard is wenge. If it looks like the body, is ovankol :-)

Welcome to za forum !

Thank you for warm welcoming Florin!
any clue how I can get any more detailed informations from the big W?

Thx

Post a pic here and we will give you all the details:)

I am almost positive it's an Ovangkol body W/ a Wenge neck and fingerboard. I guess we will see if anyone agrees with me.

Also, not that it matters now, but I am super surprised that Warwick didn't get back to you about your serial number. I had to email them before bc one of my basses didn't come up on the site when I tried that route and they got back to me really fast.

It is a standard Warwick Thumb BO 4 strings from 98. Wenge neck.

Nothing more to add except that it is a monster bass :-)

Guys, thanks for your answers!
One last question: are the MEC pickups active or passive design on that bass?
I'm not really good at recognizing electronics... Nor woods... but I sure love to play my W's!
Thx in advance for your help
Cheers!

Yep, lovely ovangkol body and Wenge neck and board. And the MEC pickups on there are active (otherwise they'd say "Dynamic Correction"). Nice bass!
