Situation: Suspicious...

Hi, guys I'm a bit of a Warwick Forum newbie so let me introduce my self a bit before I get into thins.

I haven't been here very long and mostly joined so that I could look at/listen to clips and check out what's for sale. I've always liked the Warwick sound but thought that my first Warwick (my only one thus far) a Thumb BO6 BN just wasn't for me. So I decided to give a streamer a try and it seems to have been a bad move, at least the way I went about it.

Three weeks ago I saw a beautiful Streamer LX LTD 2008 for sale in this thread: (the user, Sangsom, has deleted the first post since I decided to buy it).

The guy had zero feedback, no references, and no history on the site, and his english was little funny so was a bit weary but I've been in this exact situation at least 3 times now and it's always worked out fine. I sent a message expressing interest and we went back and forth for a bit less than a week. It seemed to me like he was an honest guy and we eventually settled on a price of $1400 straight. He wanted the money via bank transfer (again I had done this before too with fine results) and he sent me all the information I needed for it and I sent the cash. He sent his last message basically saying that he'll be sure to send the bass on the 11th and I haven't heard a word from him since even after many attempts to contact him through PMs, and 2 separate email addresses. I can't even get to him via phone anymore (using skype) because it says that "this customer in unavailable at this time".

I know it just looks like I made a string of bad decisions but I normally consider myself a decent judge of character but that didn't do me any good this time. The sudden stop in communication has really made it seem like I've been scammed out of $1400 (+$45 for the wire fee).

I don't want to post the information he gave me yet as I've given him until friday before I said I'd actually do so but if it comes to that I will.

I'm really just looking for any help I can get here so I appreciate anything you guys can do.

EDIT: Hoping for the best but I'm not sure...

Since it's a bank transfer and not a wire (moneygram/western union) the owner of the account should be traceable.
Wait a bit more and then contact the police.
I assume the warwick forum admins should also have his IP registered.
Good luck, next time asking for a home phone number could also help.

well I don't know how it goes abroad, but here if you know the name and address of someone (presuming you do, some banks require that for money transfers), you can easily get that person's house phone number. If you can't do any of this..well my suggestion would be to do your best at contacting him and then tell the mods of the forum about this, contact the police and try to fix the situation.. I wish you best of luck.

I remember seeing this bass for sell on here. I hope this transaction works out for you.

I was just reading IncX's old thread about that Vampire sale that went wrong. It turned out ok in the end but after a lot of fuss.
I really hope your situation gets resolved without much pain. What a fine bass...

Not to fuel your anxiety about the situation, but $1400 seems almost too good to be true for a LTD 2008. I wish I could help out, that really sucks... :@

Good luck - I hope it's just a simple misunderstanding and that it sorts out for you soon!

:d

I will PM now, and let's hope we don't need to start the "Warwick Guerilla" again :-)

haha my thoughts exactly as i was opening this thread today. We 're startin' up a posse!

If there's anything I can do to help you...
But I still hope that this is all a 'misunderstanding' and that one of these days da postman rings your door bell to deliver da Wick... 8:

Thanks for the support everyone :)

So, where was this 'Sangsom' guy from? Was he in the US?

He's from Thailand. I'm contacting my bank and trying to reverse the address he sent me today to try and get a phone number or something.

this is why I never pay for ♣♣♣♣ outside of paypal over the internet

+1! I wish it was a US east coast address, I'd go knock on the door for you:evil:
