De-tuning my Corvette...need some tips

after playing my corvette std. 5-string in std. tuning for almost a year, I just began playing with some metal dudes who asked that I tune to GDGCF. I have never really set a bass up for this kind of tuning and was hoping to get some tips on the most effective way to do this. It seems like a broad question, but any advice would be appriciated.
 
Just detune it.

I detune my 4 string to DGCF, and I don't need to adjust the trusrod, or anything else for that matter. :D
 
GDGCF is pretty extreme though, it's almost Darklord territory. Thick strings should help. I'm not sure the 34'' corvette would cope that well. It may need some adjustments, but just tune it and see. There's a chance it's gonna be quite floppy.
 
If downtuning causes the strings to be a bit too floppy,try adjusting the bridge.Seth wrote a good piece in Tips & Tricks under,"by B strings is too floppy"(I think that's the name of it).

yeah, the problem is the low G. It just seems like I have to bring the string up way too high in order to not get bad string rattle...although with the metal we are playing you cant really tell :wink: myabe some fat-ass strrings would help

i'm ADGC with my two 34" vettes and no problems at all, a bit of tweaking at the bridge and nut will do :D
