very powerful sound :shock: , like a huge kick in you stomach...

i love this bass but i don't think i could be able to use the F# string (my band plays in C and that's more than enough for thrash metal) :twisted:

Same here man, I hate the way the description makes him out to be absolutley amazing, his technque is awful and in no way does he do any of the Warwicks he plays any justice what so ever.

I like that cab he's playing thru!! Can't say I'm ever going to use a bass tuned that low, but at least someone does.
 
Oh that mikes-chop dude is awful, i hate his playing :D I cant see the point choosing him to the bass gear shower :D He is so sloppy:)

Well,

to me the Darklord sounds average.............as in nothing special. I really like to listen to more clips to get a better understanding..........Oh yeah, there is also a video on bassplayer.tv where Seth is playing the Dark Lord.............
 
poor chris revill .. although i admit that his playing seems to be very much guitar based ... i still dont think he deserves to be hated and dissed that much.

for the record, im probably just as sloppy or more sloppy than him. here's a clip of me slapping on a darklord in normal tuning:

i had my share of really bad comments that as much as i tried to ignore it, it did affect me ... so i just went on and deleted them :)

doesnt the thing sound a bit like a thumb bass?

and oh, the reason why the sound sucks is because i did that clip when i was still in my "12 pedals on the board - 10 of them on" phase.

ive long matured since then and justr keep 2 tone fixers on or hell, just go straight into the amp.
 
does it make sense to play a dark lord via a 10" speaker? :?: wouldn't you need a 18" speaker to really fit with these low frequencies? by the way...these dark lord strings must be perfect for trip hop material, or not?

When playing that low, it'd be better to have lots of smallers speakers rather than fewer big ones. Going down this low, what you'll want to really hear and define the note is the harmonics, not the fundamental.
 
Nice bass, very poor chops... one Fieldy is enough for the world, I mean, the kind of Pro musicians that has a very busy tour agenda and are worldwide famous, but doesn´t even know the blues scale. As they don´t have to work from 9 to 6, at least they could spend 2 hours a day of practicing.

Hey, I´m not saying that every pro musiciand has to be a virtuoso, but at least get a level of knowing your instrument and developing your chops so if your "new-metal" act disband, or you get fired, at least you has the chance to continue playing bass for a living.

That said, I´m an normal bass player that loves music and never get the chance to be profesional but plays in a weekends band and some times earns few bucks playing gigs, and always find a couple of hours to maintain my (normal, nothing over the top) chops.


Now on-topic:
I had the chance to try one Dark Lord here in Madrid, very nice bass indeed, I loved the sandblasted finish on it. Of course it´s not a "mainstream" bass. Love to hear it thru a SVT and two 8x10´s :twisted:
