Hello, I'm pretty new to warwicks but Love my 2005 Vette Std 5 string. I am very curious what the difference is between My '05 Vette and say a '05 Thumb BO. I would like to get a Thumb for my next bass. Any info on the Pickups & Controls on my '05 would really help.

I'd assume the electronics are active as the pickups are active... and I assume that's a 2 band eq on the stacked pots, so the controls should be the same as the Thumb BO. If that's a bubinga corvette, which it looks like to me, it will be in the same ballpark as the Thumb, tonally speaking. The big difference is the pickup placement... the Thumb, and especially the 5 string had the pups closer to the bridge which gives it a distinctive lower mid bias which you may love... or hate. You really need to try one out for yourself and decide whether you like it. For me, the Thumb BO is a killer bass

Thanks for the replies. Yes it definitely has active electronics. I don't know if the pickups are active. The volume switch is also a push/pull type. I love the Corvette tone and low end thump. especially the B-string. If the Thumb has more than it may be too much "Thump". I will definitely play one when I get a chance.

BTW. This Vette is Bubinga for Sure with Ovangkol/Wenge Neck(Almost Positive). It is completely Mint even it's an '05. I got it used for only $700 USD. I don't think it was played more than a few hours. I am feeling very lucky I got this beautiful bass.

The pickups are active. The gold "MEC" printed on them indicates that... passive pups are silver. The push-pull volume knob will by-pass the active electronics when pulled out, but the pups are still active and will not work if your battery is dead. The Thumb is the same and I often by-pass the active eq as I like to go into my EBS microbass for tone mangling

Awesome! I was hoping they were active. This day just keeps getting better. Thanks for the info. I can't believe I went so long before discovering Warwick basses.

The Thumb BO is a totally different instrument, even if the woods are similar, because of the pickup placement.
As saxon said, it has a low mid growl... well, the specific THUMB sound.
It will complement nicely your corvette.

Thanks for the welcome. My Vette has some definite growl which I love. I look forward to hearing the Thumb's differences. I pretty much run with one bass so it may come down to the bass with the most "flexibility". I never had a problem with using one bass for an entire set no matter what the Genre. I used a Sadowsky Jazz in My band Knucklehead and we did everything from Led Zeppelin to Nickelback to Korn to Godsmack. Also used a Stingray 5 for the same music.
