I've had my newest Corvette now for about six weeks. My previous ones were all paired with entry-level combo amps. I've got to say that I am really pleased with the tones I get out of it. It took an upgrade in combo amps for me to finally get "The Sound of Wood." I had thought that phrase to be a typical marketing phrase.
I find that I wear it higher up than my other three basses. It has a little hum when I play close to our ceiling fan, but that goes with single coils and is part of the "charm??" of them. I also like the passive electronics with a simple tone control. My other basses are active and have 2 and 3 band EQs. There is something to be said for simpleness.
