Corvette $$ Pups

I have really enjoyed getting to know this bass, but it's still a bit frustrating how damn close the pups are to the strings. I was wondering if lowering them would considerably change the sound? I'm nervous to screw with it at all.

You can write down what the exact heights are at the moment so you can reset them if you want. Then screw them screws! Your output will drop and perhaps the timbre will change a little. Perhaps it will be better, especially if you dig in hard.
