Corvette $$ NT - Questions

Right, there I go again :)
After considering several used items, I am moving back to thinking about buying new, at least I have warranty, JAN 3 Brass and a warranty then :)

As many know I do love playing my $$4 Corvette Bolt on with swampash body and the Ovankol/Wenge neck combo.

As such, the NT caught my eye, as I like the shape, the $$ versatility and basic sound of it, but maybe could add a bit here and there and take it a bit further out :)

I may be able to playthe 2010 LTD in a shop soon and may travel another 3 hours to reach a shop having the bubinga model....so good clips or link to such will be appreciated :)

Main points of pondering:

Swamp Ash vs Bubinga (or something CS)
Wenge or CS Ebony fretboard
Standard Maple neck or CS
Any Other suggestions also appeciated :)

I normally play a 4 string, am 5 string curious and play with an eden wtx500 into Warwick 210 and 115 cabs and have eq almost flat with quite a treble boost onboard(may just be old strings) and a little tad of enhance (edens preset EQ boost) on the bass for a nice dry and perkussive sound. PUs are normally on Singlecoil, but I add another parrallel coil or switch to series at time depending on what takes me fancy :)
I play metal mainly and like a tone that has cut without being harsh and, lots of bark/growl and a tight low end.
I don't play slap atm and so playing fingerstyle and pick (with the odd bit of tapping) is where me sound comes from :)

The $$ BO tones are pretty awesome, so I just want to see if I can improve on awesome :)
 
I know for sure a Bubinga Vette will cut through on some hard rock. It is very solid sounding and has a low mid oomph to it. I will say that it is worlds heavier then my LX, Bubinga adds a lot of weight, so if thats an issue then the Ash might be your better bet.
 
If you really want to cut, I would change the neck to wenge, and pickups to Bartolini. Bubinga body helps too, but keep in mind it will be a heavy bass :-)
 
Weight should not be an issue, as many may know I am a trainer for Medival Combat in my spare time and swing about with 2 handed swords.... :)

The main goal should be a tone more clear then the $$ BO, cutting will be nice, but I don't want to sacrifice it all for cut only and loose top end and end up having to boost it excessively. I have not played a wenge neck before, but what I have read so far was that it has a softer response with a low mid emphasis.

old clips i made when i got the bass... i think they are from end of 2007 and recording quality is not good on some of them.
i also didn't play anything special, just for comparison of different possibilities the PUs offer.

cant really go wrong ,corvette is a great bass for almost everything only problem is there are just so many things to choose;) and not enough cash to buy them all...if only!!! good luck with whatever you decide :)

ohh i would hate to be you right now;)....lol..half the reason i "CANT" visit the custom shop..if i went in there i think i would need a remortgage on my home..
 
IIRC - no amp was used. Just digitech Jamman. So it's the pure signal you are hearing.
 
Nice :) I normally play with boosted highs on my BO $$, I guess this will allow me to keep away from bossting the EQ as extreme :) Main aim was to add a tighter sound with more clarity to it :)
 
I love the LTD 2010, but that Keng-6-string guy is too anoying with his slappity-poppity, 160 notes per second stuff...
 
hehe, yeah, the Bass player from blood Red Throne has some vids up as well, but he plays too fats for my style so I can not hear all that much from it :)
 
yeah i hear you there...its a bit of a common thing for nearly all a bass demo ...most of the time its a turn off..playing fast slap is one thing but most the time its just showing off chops not the instrument..think myself that slap is not such a huge thing it was!!but its all some people can do...:)
 
I like a nice growly but 3d sound with nice clarity without being scooped...I hope the NT delivers :)
 
i own a bubinga $$ NT, its a sweett tone man, aggressive, growly, but also phat
 
If I am lucky I can test a 4 string in a shope 2 hours away (if they have not sold it till next week). I shall take my amp with me and see how it goes.

check out my bands myspace man, unfortunately the bloody guitars hide a lot of my tone! but you can hear me through proper speakers. on the song "warning" theres a slap break...

I got to say you can't go wrong with the NT $$. I started off with the BO and loved the sound. With the NT (Bubinga) you won't have to boost the highs and ALL of your tone will be crystal clear. So basically you'll get everything you loved in the BO plus all the things you wish the BO had too! I can't wait to hear your post after you get it.
