Corvette Classic active no onboard preamp!

Hi there everyone I wanted to share a thought I have these days and I'd realy like to hear your opinion.
I own a Corvette Classic that I really like but, there is one thing that I'd like to get rid off it, the onboard preamp.
So after some research I've discovered that I can have active pickups without preamp boost.
So what do you guys think, how would it effect the tone, has anyone else ever used active MECs without active preamp?
 
Dont the vettes have the pre-amp bypass? most other active wicks have that. Just pull the right knob and all your problems will disappear!
 
Go for it. If you like the active pickups, ditch the preamp. As long as you have the right value pots, and retain a battery for the pickups you're all good.

I'm afraid there is no push/pull knob so I the only way to bypass the preamp is to get rid of it!!!

This is my current problem, what value pots I have to use to make this work properly?
Any suggestions?
By the way the Rockbass Passive wiring schematic Warwick provides uses 500k values for all 4 pots(Vol/Blend/Tone/Tone) and Duncan recomends 100k but they have Jazz Bass setup(Vol/Vol/Master tone) do you think 100k shoud work for me or I'd better use other values(25k? or so)?

It shouldn't be a big deal to put a bypass switch on your bass . Best on a push pull pot imo .
I've often done that to basses, because when i've taken it out altogether i've inevitably found although i haven't wanted the eq sound i've needed it again at some point .

1/ Contact warwick and ask them if they have done a preamp bypass switch on a bass with your pickups .
2/ If they have download the schematic and PM it to me .
3/ In General tonewise the higher the pot value the more trble stays in the signal , the lower the more bleeds off .
4/ You could put crocodile clips on the pickup cable ends and wire them to a jack , will have the pure sound of the pickups to try out without changing anything . Take the battery out maybe first , i haven't fully thought this out but that should work
