Oh that lesson. My arms are heavy, back is aching... after two hours (with breaks ofc) I am at 210 bpm on my acoustic bass atm, 4/4. Seems I´m warm now, haha! Still there should be much more possible. Theft from Markus Setzer btw., awesome bass teacher!

What will be your highest speed? Let´s get ready to ruuuuuumble!!!

Can we do it any style?...finger, pick or slap?
 
Easily 400, but I suppose I can do it at 480-500 which is my top speed for right hand.
Hardy, this should be pretty effortless, do you want to meet two of us on skype and see your left hand? I am not Markus, but I know a trick or two about how to get a relaxed fast ledt hand

I would be also interested. I play most of the time with 3 finger picking :)
 
Let‘s do it this way, so it’s fun for more of us:

Someone starts it at maybe 200 bpm, next one makes 10 bpm more, always steps of 10 bpm. This means that everyone has the chance to follow and to develop his skills. The cracks just wait for the higher speed range. This all could run some weeks. And all we slowhands can think about the right technique. Your skills and advices would be helpful for us all, Florin!

The left hand mechanics is a bit trickier than it seems, but also far easier than it may look at the beginning. If your left hand is tense and slow you might need a reset :) It is quite easy actually, it just needs a bit of easy practice
 
I’ve just had a crack at this, after a break in playing for over a year (disclaimer :D ) and I’m comfortable around 330 repetitively and then it begins getting messy. I had to look for another metronome app as mine topped out at 200.
Playing once as a passage at 400+ is manageable.

I tried your trick Flo, but my fingers don’t respond the same. Mainly the little finger. Mine moves more. I might spend some time trying to retrain it, but then again I’ve not always felt comfortable using a finger per fret.
Damn these small hands!
