ok ive just bought a pro fet 3.2 with the pro 410 (8 ohm version, i plan on adding another cab down the track)
im very happy with the set up but ive noticed when i start push up the gain past about 5ish a little light with clip flashes.
im guessing this is like a warning saying ur pushing ur amp pretty hard but i was just wondering does the clip really matter. say if it just flashes every now and then will this matter. and if it is constantly clipping what will happen? also do any of you guys play when the clip light is on?
cheers
sorry for sounding so noobish!

Hello danny,

The way Warwick amplifiers work is that we have two gain stages. Here are the steps on it works:
  • 1. Turn up the volume on your instrument.
    2. Plug your bass into the input of your amplifier.
    3. Start turning up the Gain knob until the clip LED flashes and leave it at the level it flashed.
    4. Turn up your main volume knob to the desired volume you wish to play at.

Thos are the basic steps you need to take to make the amp work properly. It is explained in a lot more detail in the Warwick User's Manual for amplifiers. We offer an online PDF download at www.warwick.de -> Support -> Manual.

I strongly suggest taking a look at it, since it will help you understand a lot better hoe to use your amp and its features to your advantage as a musician.

it should flash only when you are playing your hardest or slapping on your lowest string. It could do damage to both your amp and speakers if you play with it constantly on...

The idea is to set the gain at the perfect lever (just flashing) and then turn up your master volume to the level you require

edit:// are you running your pedals in the effects loop or before you go into the input of your head? Running the pedals in the signal chain before your amp can cause noise and can boost the gain causing your amp to clip earlier...

I can turn the gain up well into the red without any distortion at all.Dont be timid when it comes to the gain on your Profet,it's a bloody tough, loud amp.

+1 on what Greg says...

The Profets need the gain to be bumped up a bit!! It won't break it and will give you even more volume and headroom! Quite ok to have the red light flashing a fair bit while ur playing....best advice, use your ears and back off if you hear distortion..

Thanks guys!
Thats helped alot!
You guys know your stuff, im getting to love this forum!
