I haven't posted this because I was trying to talk the wife into it. Well I can't convince her why I need a 4th bass when I'm not even gigging at the moment :( . They retail for $1679 and with no bids this one may go for extremely less. Even the BIN is a good price. Wish I could get it...
 
Men, you don´t need it!!!! it is not even a killer deal, you could get a better bass for a better price,if it´s gonna get you into trouble by getting it ,make sure you´re making a good deal...

It's $650 cheaper then retail cost brand new. I thought it was a good price?...
 
I'm not sure I really get the point behind the Teranis, why not just get a 5 string and have more range. I know the string spacing's tighter, but it's doable with practice.
 
get any 4 stringer and change the strings.... If you want a 35 "get an spector or a modulus...I mean, are you gonna buy it just for the strings? come on....The $$ is a better option in that case...Passive warwick? what´s wrong with you man?( no offense)...For 1300$ you can get a kick ass bass out there... Or maybe for half of that and then you can buy something nice for your ladygirl l!!!!

The Taranis is meant for players that like the extended range of a 5 string but prefer the neck of a 4 string.
 
Couldn't you just string any 4 string with the lower 4 strings from a 5 string set with appropriate set up adjustment? Though if you got a Teranis I wonder how much a 5 string set would be compared to the specially tuned 4 string set for that bass?
 
i think the strings that come with the taranis are the standard 135-105-85-65 that go with every 5 string set (or maybe 130s, not sure)...i simply buy 5-string sets every time :D
 
I was thinking that'd prolly work out cheaper since it's a standard set rather than some custom gauge set.
 
i wouldnt be surprised if some manufacturer started making 4-strings sets for BEAD tuned basses... along with warwick, also sandberg, ibanez and other companies have extended range 4 stringers :wink:

Actually it would be < $1100 shipped if noone bids on it. I know you can convert any 4 stringer to a BEAD with a setup but I like the passive jazzman PU config, and it's a corvette. As far as the other brands, I only play Warwicks.

I would have to buy a regular 5 string set and toss the small string. I use Heavy boomers for my CGCF bass and that's the heaviest 4 string set I can find. I wouldn't want to try to pull off a B with the 115 string, but it works well for the C...
 
Very tempting, jay. That is an excellent price. But I tend to agree, only do it if you really dig the sandblasted body - everything else can be done with your $$...

I could give a crap about the sandblasted body. Actually I really don;t care for the body. Guess it's just GAS...

Actually,

I do recall someone mentioning that the Taranis sounds really really nice, and has a much different sound than the $$.............The best feature of the Taranis may not be the BEAD tuning, nor the sandblasted finish...............but the sound instead....... 8)
 
Sure it is. I don't really like the look of sandblasted finish, but the 5 string Taranis I played once blew me away, soundwise.

I don't want to imply that I don't respect someone's review or opinion, but I have a hard time believing it sounds dramatically different. There's only minor differences. Sounds more like someone talking themself into it. But hey, what do I know? :lol:
