This is an experiment, but as far as I am concerned the chatbox is removed permanently.

The only new threads being posted on the forum lately are from people trying to sell their instrument and frankly I am not willing to run a site that is nothing more then a souped up marketplace.

After hearing this from other mods, other forums views on chatboxes and some good thinking I have come to this conclusion. The chatbox is gone unless other forum personnel decides otherwise, but again I want to point out I will not admin a marketplace website that has some old Warwick forum content as a side effect.

Let's be a forum again!

Let's see how it goes!
But please let's discuss major changes before actually doing them :)

No pun intended but there was nobody to discuss anything with in the past months.
Most mods/admins had more pressing important issues in their lives to deal with in this period then forum related stuff, which is no biggie for me.
I simply kept guarding the door and kicked out the spammers, wondering how we can get new threads and content going.

The chatbox was being used more then the forum threads system thus let's see if removing that improves things.

Hola amigos,

Sorry for being away these days, I´ve been trying to get the pieces of my new life together.
I support Marco on this, I think the forum will be fine. :)

I have seen members exchanging pleasantries and, you know, chatting, via the chat box on many occasions. I have done so myself. It also alerted online members to new posts. I personally don't use it much, but I don't see the harm in it's existence. Did it cost extra money or require lots of hands-on maintenance? I don't recall seeing anyone using it to sell stuff. It seemed like a nice "extra" for the site to me. But, as always, I defer to the wishes of the majority.

As one of the Mods that voted to remove the chatbox, I agree, lets give it a little while to see if it increases Forum posts. There was tons of good content in the chat that I saw pass by and disappear (including tech info, interesting questions / videos and the like).

I just treat this place as a group of friends down the pub.. ie: I see something cool, interesting or controversial (no politics or religious crap though), I post it. A forum is only as good as the members and what they add :)

As a reasonably new comer I just want to reinforce that your attitudes and commitment to this forum is excellent!! I must admit that most of the time that I am a lurker and poster when chatting is needed but please know that there are people out there appreciating and enjoying this forum and you guys are the reason why! I will try to continue to maintain activity in this great forum.

Cheers!

Aw thanks man! It is SO good to hear things like this.

An update: Threads and posts being made have increased. Let's hope we can maintain this acceleration.

Thanks everyone!

Marco, apologies for my first reply, I thought you opened this thread in the private area, I would never discuss your actions in public.
Anyway, you did a great job, and you do a great job, and you are right, you had to deal with a lot of stuff alone.
Cybergugz!

Agree Marco :) thank you to you, and the guys that make this thing run. True that questions etc get answers on the chat box that other people might need!

For me, the Chatbox was "First Aid" when I started in this Forum and need really fast Answers.
I do not think it is so good that this possibility is no longer given.
But however, let 's see how it works without.

Mixed feelings about it, so I won't vote.
The Chatbox made me come here more often, but then I didn't read write many posts. It's great to point out new threads, though.
So, I'd say, IDK. :-)
