Changing the tubes on my TubePath... help!

Hi all

Help!

I'm trying to open up my TubePath in preparation for my new tubes arriving, and I have a couple of queries.

1) The top screws have come out OK, but the two on the front panel... umm... aren't screws! They're more like small studs, with a round indent in the middle, with no obvious way of unscrewing them. What do I do?

2) When I was taking the amp out of the rack, a small screw came out of the top with a plastic sheath around it. It was in the top, just behind and to the left of the input gain knob. Is it important? I can't see because I can't get the top off...!

3) I noticed that when the amp is horizontal and then I move it to stand it on it's end, the insides seem to noticeably shift. it worried me a little...! Is that normal? Obviously in an ideal world it would be flat all the time, but... I worry what would happen if it was ever packed upside-down!

4) Is there any way to take the feet off the bottom? It's tough to fit in my rack with them on!

So many questions... thanks for reading them!
 
Are the "feet" you're talking about rubber feet? If so, stuck on with glue or screws?
Shouldn't be a problem to take those of if you want to.
 
:idea: If you've removed some screws & your amps innards now move within the chassy,I think it's best to take it to your local music shop & get them change your tubes. :wink:
 
All the screws on the top come out & the two screws on the top of the frontalso have to come off, these are double hex type that you need the right tool to undo, they unscrew just like the other ones though. They are not studs.

As for the guts moving around inside, somethings a miss there, get it checked asap.

If anyone knows how to take the top of a Tubey in a hurry,it's Rusty. :lol:

Excellent... thanks Rusty. I got a double ex driver and it's sorted!

It's put my mind at rest... the movement inside is just the transformer shifting slightly. Nothing is amiss.

I had a good look around.. it's an incredibly well made amp, isn't it? I can't wait for the tubes to arrive...!
 
Pass me that burbon can greg!!!

They are extreemly well made amps. The tube path is still made in germany if I am correct! Huge transformer also! See if you can tighten its mounting screws to stop movement!

Let me know how you get along with it once the new valves arrive!

yeah, the x-treme and tubepath are both made in germany and are both extremely well made amps
 
no its made in china.

still a good quality head though. just not the same standard as many more expensive heads
