I've got a profet 5.1 and a matching 4x10 8ohm 800w? cab, but I'm getting a little tired of lugging the cabinet around - just to rehearsals... gigs are ok because I generally get some help from my wife or other band members

I've seen an almost new ashdown 1x15 (115?) 250w 8ohm cab at a reasonable price and I'm tempted to buy it. my theory is I can pair it with the 4x10 at gigs, then my amp will run at a full 500w - then I can take just the 1x15 to rehearsals as it's smaller and lighter than the 4x10.
Eventually I would probably get a 2x10 to run with the 1x15 (should I decide to buy it!)

would my amp be too powerful for the 1x15 (250w) on its own?

what are other peoples thoughts??

It would be fine. At 8 ohms your Pro FET 5.1 pushes around 300w, so a 250w cab is pretty much a perfect match.

If you can get your hands on an Avatar B210 neo cab, that would be the way to go IMO.

500w, LIGHT (44 lbs easily carried with one arm) and quality. They sound fantastic. They use speakers with neo magnets which are very light compared to non-neo magnets.

Interesting 2X10 cabs in there

My brother uses the Avatar cabs...from personal experience, that's a really good way to go. Great sound, and surprisingly lightweight. My brother doesn't exactly hit the gym every day and he carried even their 410 down the street by himself. I'd say go with Avatar. The new Warwick cabs are great too! I'm considering getting a 410 to use with my TubePath really soon

thanks for your replies, looks like I'm going to have to get a DI box first as I get a lot of buzzing / static when using the DI on my Warwick profet 5.1 (check my other post on that issue) - then I can look at getting another cabinet
