So I've been lusting after a rockbass for a while now. (well really a warwick but $$$$:(( ) Anyway I was on a site this morning that was selling a used vette but it says the color is brown. I've never seen a brown rockbass before and the picture looks black, but it is small and blurry so it could be a dark brown.

I emailed the seller and asked them to send me a clearer pic but I have received no reply yet and I am antsy...

So that was really just a long drawn out way of asking did warwick ever make a brown rockbass? And what do you think of that pic?

It looks like "Antique Tobacco", which is an official Warwick colour. I just checked the Warwick catalogue (paper and site), and it's not listed. But maybe it was a standard colour for Rockbasses a couple of years ago.........Bass looks genuine to me. If you want to be sure, you should PM Florin the moderator. Cheers.:d

Ok Ill try sending a message over to Florin. If it is legit then i have to decide if I really can afford to buy it now *sigh*

Looks legit to me.

How much do you have to spend buddy? You are
aware that the 2009 Rockbasses look JUST like their
German counterparts right?

I know you may be antsy to get your hands on one,
but keep in mind, your satisfaction has no price-tag
on it, and sometimes it pays to wait.

I've been in love with Warwicks for four years, and just
this past August finally acquired one.

Talk about waiting. ;)

Well I could afford to spend $300-500 right now but the question is more of whether another instrument is really the best thing to spend it on. lol

Out of curiosity though what are the changes in the 2009 Rockbasses?

2009 Rockbasses have the two-piece bridges,
same headstock as their German counterparts,
and I believe are reshaped from years previous
as well. (Select models.)

This could also be the transparent black finish. In the correct lighting, mine looks just like that.

in the warwick brochure 2006 there's a pick of a streamer standard single pick up that also look more brown than black.
so maybe there was a brown see through finish or it depends on lighting conditions if it is more brown than black .
when it's actualy the collor of the picture you send , i definitly would buy it , it looks great.

Wonder what the prices of the 09 RB's are gonna be. I would lurve a Vampyre. But I've seen Wick Vamp SN's in mint shape going for 1500 or less. If the new RB's jack up in cost a lot, I think I'll just hunt for good used Wick.

The colour is without a doubt "Nirvana Black".

Its a transparent high gloss black finish Rockbass Corvette.

It's active - MEC active J+J pups and two band MEC preamp (although not the same as the German Corvette 2 way preamp). The four knob configuration (compared to three on German corvettes) is correct for a Rockbass Corvette - treble, bass, pickup blend and volume.

It looks like a new-ish RB Corvette with straplocks instead of the older strap buttons, and if so, it will say Corvette on the truss rod cover rather than Warwick. You'll find it also has the quick access control cavity cover.

;)
