After playing bass for more than 25 years I finally bought a Warwick (Thumb 4 Bolt-On) and I'm in love with it! I can't put it down. However I really want a brass bridge and tail on it.
I've upgraded several of my basses in the past with brass bridges and it's always been a huge improvement (more attack, clarity, definition, more of those rich beautiful timbres, musical "singing", sustain, natural "sound of wood"). The bridge is very important for the sound, it's where the strings and wood are coupled and it makes the wood and strings vibrate/resonate together.
The standard Warwick bridge is constructed very nicely, it even has a sort of sustain block under the bridge, however the material used has poor tonal qualities imo (aluminum-alloy bridges sound even worse to me than a good simple bent plate bridge).
This is becoming my favorite bass and I can't imagine what would happen if it had a brass bridge and sustain block like Alembic, I think it would kill...
But the problem is, there is no brass bridge that I know of that will fit nicely. Does anybody have any ideas where to get something that will fit? Or someone who makes good custom bridges?
Also I want to urge Warwick to consider producing brass bridges (preferably unpainted as it sounds even better). It would be a perfect custom option (and I my opinion the most important one).
Btw. I saw there was a poll for this a few years ago:
