just received my warwick yesterday, today i was playing and noticed my D string had this horrible sounding buzz. I did two things, first i raised the D string a little bit on the bridge, then i rasied the lower side of the nut, this seemed to fix the problem a decent amount, at least for now. Do i need to raise both sides of the nut to the same height? or can the lower side stay higher and the top side lower , or do i have to raise the second one as well and make them both equal?
Brand new warwick, with nasty fret buzz..

Let your ears be the judge! The main thing is to ensure you have an reasonable consisency of volume across the strings - no point raising the D string and then it sounds quieter than the others. I tend to take the string lower with the D and G strings
Was the buzz across all frets - that's likely to be a question of raising the action at the bridge
Was the buzz only on frets 1 to 5, or from 5 higher - likely to be neck relief adjusted by the truss rod
Was the buzz only on one fret - which could be the fret - seems unlikely with a bass of this quality
If in doubt, take it to a pro. No point spoiling your enjoyment for a niggly little thing like that

I would try adjusting your neck. It might need to be more relaxed.
