I am interested in having a custom Warwick built with Purple Heart. Has anyone had a bass made with Purple Heart? If So, Can you please describe the tone?
 
Although I've seen basses built with purple heart tops, like the one above...I don't think I've ever seen one with a solid purple heart body. With the rarity of such builds, it may be difficult to get a description of the tone. It certainly is beautiful though!

I want to tell you the truth, it is hard to describe the final sound, and there are so many factors involved. Let's say because it is a hard wood, it keeps all the good Warwick qualities, but with a very cool look :-)

This is also highly dependent on what type of finish is on the wood. A natural oil finish allows the elements of nature to interact more with the wood than on a high-gloss finish. I've noticed this many other woods, as well....even such common woods as maple.
