Does anyone own this Thumb?
I was wondering if it has the Warwick 'growl' to it.

Description:
The body of this beauty is made of American Swamp Ash with Flamed Maple top and has a Satin Oil finish. The Headstock is covered with a matching veneer of Flamed Maple, too. The neck and the fingerboard are also constructed from Flamed Maple.

The MEC positioning is similar to the Thumbs....
But, since the wood isn't Ovankol or Bubinga....Will it lack the growl?

It's one good looking bass.some one swaped out the mec preamp on mine for something else.I don't know what though.I like the way it sounds.I would say to play a ash vet and bubinga vet, the difference is sort of the same between the bo thumbs.I would say it growls but just it a different way.If you can get one I would say buy it,the blonde is also very light.
 
I played a Vett about a year ago when I picked up my very first bass. Back then it sounded very 'punchy'. I knew I had to get a Warwick someday soon.
A forum memeber was nice enough to make a clip comparing his two different vetts. I've listened to them over and over again. Enough to where the wife gives me 'the look'. ;)

the bleached blonde was the 2nd warwick i GAS-sed and i lost the bidding cause i was at work with no net connection.

i guess i cant help, but i did read a review that it had problems with the "bottom" end of things...

i own a vampyre LTD and its swamp ash body, maple top and maple neck with ebony fingerboard and a J-TJ pup set up... all i can say is that it growls a lot, especially on the treble area. i wonder if that logic can also be replied to bleached blondes?

That's what I'm hoping for. The other members clip was an ash vett but had an ovankol neck. I really love the look of the bleach blonde. I just really want to make sure it has a distinct sound. The maple neck is what's worrying me the most. The members clip really showed the bottom end of the ash vett compared to the bubinga. I liked that.

I think the maple neck and board make the bass sound bright,but it a good way.Not brittle sounding.I don't know what preamp is in mine,but the bottom sounds fat.I would buy the blonde before a regular thumb bo.There harder to find.
