Best strings for stermer lx 5

Hi Colls

please advice what are the best sound strings for my bass ?
roundwound or flatwound ?
and of corse the size of the set

Long scale strings. Any brand or type you like.
What you like is entirely up to you.
 
Agree, long scale and whatever you like.

Hi Saldo, if you are posting this thread, then you have no Idea about strings, so I'll try to make a short introduction, haha!
- Your Warwick bass was originally strung with Black labels (Warwick) Warwick EMP are the same, only they are coated and they last 5 times more
- Many people like DR strings- cannot go wrong with Hi Beams for example
- Elixir have less highs, and more mids, they complement great the Streamer LX, that was my choice with that bass.
- Flats sound different. No brightenss, less sustain, thumpy. They are good if you want an old skool sound, which is not really the Streamer LX strong part.

I hope this is a good introduction :-) The best advice is to invest in some different strings, and AB test them, and decide for yourself, then stick with them

My personal experience is :
DR coloured are a bit dead.
Roto swing66 steels are a bit bright (the LX is fairly aggressive sounding naturally)
now Nickel rotsounds work well for me and are relatively cheap.
I have totally fallen for D'addario slowounds on my other basses but these are discontinued, expensive and elusive.
 
I've been using Rotosound swingbass '66, DR fat beams (Marcus Miller Signature), Warwick black label and DR lo riders lately.
I like all of them. The DR lo riders and Rotosounds feel nice and smooth to the fingers, fat beams and black label are a bit rougher.

Somehow I don't really care about which strings I use, I just pick different ones every time. Next up are Warwick EMP's as they are supposed to last a lot longer but still sound like real strings (Elixirs do make your bass sound a lot different). I am hoping to save money by using EMP.

i insatlled smith burners 45-125 and i don't like the feel of it and also
the high's are too high for me, i have tryed DR and did not like it as well
;) it's important to remind that i like jazz pop sound with midds
 
The LX does have a lot of sharp top end compared to my other wicks, i found nickel plated strings to have a little less harshness than stainless steels like rotos.
 
I'll put them on my strings to try list Flo. The roto nickels are a stopgap so maybe next set. Although the lolphin has totally taken over my 4 string playing so next LX stings might be a while.
 
Elixirs, EMP, or Black Label. Flo's description is pretty good. My LX likes elixirs. Next up will be EMP's.
