well my trusty LOL Hartke bass cabs bit the dust last night at the jam room. its been a long time coming though. I've had them since the mid 80's I think. I'm surprised they lasted this long to tell the truth. the 5 string was the bringer of speaker death in drop A tuning. the poor things just kinda gave up the ghost with a loud fart and pop.. the 1x15 has no cone movement at all and 3 of the 4x10 's are the same... voice coils fused, burned up, dead LOL.....

so now the search is on. looking at the ampeg 6x10.. any thoughts on this cab from the wawick clan.....

My opinion, of course. Which, in my opinion, its hard to bear Mesa for the money. I'm actually after a Mesa live setup, with GK for home.

I'd love to get a Warwick rig, but I have no way to extensively test one, and they're a bit on the pricey side.
 
Hey Gonzosc1! sorry to hear about your hartke cabs mate...but sounds like you definitely got your moneys worth outta them!! A couple of years back i did an extensive cabinet search to match my Ampeg SVT3 head after using hartke for 5 years or so. I tried just about every ampeg cab including the 610,410's and 810. I eventually settled on the 410 BXT (victor wooten/steve bailey cabinet) but it was lineball with the 610 you are looking at. The BXT just sounded a bit better to my ears and for my style of playing and gigs. Good luck with the search mate..you definitely can't go too far wrong with a brand like Ampeg IMO.
 
well been looking around at everything, when to GC and took my head and Fortress with me. plugged up to ampegs 8x10, 6x10, and 4x10. love the 8x10 but don't wanta lug that monster around LOL and the price. the 6x10 was nice and sound fairly tight but a little something on the low end just didn't sound good to me. the 4x10 rocked I really like the 4x10.
so that one to consider but the price is a tad high and I wounld like to get two cabs.

another I have been checking out, but have no way to play before I buy. Is "Avatar" like Carvin they are factory direct. I have been going over the reviews and these cabs are very highly rated from everything I could find out about them. high power capable.
1000watts 4x10 neo $500 delivered...and a 2x12 neo for about $425 delivered. have been looking at both of these.
anyone know about these cabs or have you played them. let me know what you thought!!

There's a lot of good information there for you to sift through and digest (I usually eliminate the "These are the best cabs EVAR!" and "These things SUCK!" reviews off the bat). I know a couple guys on the HCBF forum have Avatar cabs and like them for what they are; no nonsense, simple cabs. If I were in your situation, I'd see about trying out a 2x12, 1x15 setup. I was a big 4x10 fan until I tried an Aguilar 2x12 cab. That thing was massive, but still sounded clear and defined. I haven't played a 10 that I've liked since then.
