Like the title says..... I've been gone from the forum for awhile but I've been lurking as often as I can and I'm back to soak in all the Warwick goodness.

Just to give an update for those who may remember me; the last 8 months has been pretty busy and I've grown both musically and as a person because of it.

September of last year I auditioned for and joined a HIP HOP JAZZ band and almost immediately began gigging and recording. We played throughout the Honolulu area, landed a gig opening for a national act, was offered a signing and touring deal and fell apart just as fast as we climbed up.

Regardless of the demise of the band, and all the back-stabbing, two faced BS I witnessed from the local musician scene.... Having the opportunity to play music 5 nights a week, share my love for music with others, and get paid for it has been such an amazing feeling that I wouldn't change anything at all.

Music has always been such a huge part of my life and having this opportunity pushed me to become a better musician and has increased my passion for music ten-fold.

I don't want to drag out this thread but I just wanted to say hello to all the older forum members and introduce myself to the newer members.

I was gone but I'm glad to be back and I'm glad to see some of the veterans are still here.

BTW, I'm still rockin' the Fretless Vette and after 103 gigs she never let me down and always held her ground.... I truly love Warwick basses!! :):)

Cool stuff and good having you back! You wanna get into details about how the band thing fell apart?

Experiences, good and bad ones, are what make us alive.

Hello and Welcome back.

Cool stuff and good having you back! You wanna get into details about how the band thing fell apart?

Mainly, it was due to personality conflicts between the drummer and keyboardist which bled into the rest of the band and created an all-around bad vibe. The drummer had his "vision" of where the band should go, the keyboardist had his "vision", and the rest of us just wanted to play music and enjoy the opportunity that was given to us.

Our last "big" gig was the HardRock Cafe in Honolulu last month...... I was completely stoked to be playing the venue as was the guitarist and Emcee. The drummer and keyboardist however spent the entire night arguing about setlists, slight mistakes made during the set, etc. Ego's always get in the way and both these guys had enough for everybody. I think the pressure of doing more shows and planning for next summer's tour just became too much and we finally separated and went our own ways.

I still hang out with the keyboardist and guitarist and we do have plans to continue on with making music, but it will be at our own pace with having fun as our main priority.

Like I said in the above post.... I am completely grateful for the experience and have gained so much that I would do it all again just to be able to play music and share my passion with others.

Thanks for the greetings..... this has always been such a good forum and I'm glad to be back with fellow bass enthusiasts!!

Haven't met you before but nice to get you back!

Hey Adrian, good to hear from you again man !...8:

but ermmmm...I bet you have lotz of picz and maybe even vidz of da hiphop/jazz band ... heheh...;)

Welcome back Adrian, I am happy to see you again. Unfortunately this is a pretty common scenario... And it is not somebody's fault, people need to learn to cope with the pressure, and lack of sleep, (their own and the other's)

I would like to see some clips with your band!

Thanks for the welcome back.

Here are some photos from various gigs...

Our weekly gig at a cool little jazzy bar named Jazzminds:

One more @ Hard Rock:

I'll post some more later as well as some video clips.

Welcome back Adrian!

Sorry to hear about the negative experience but if history holds true (and the old cliche) - when one door closes another one opens.

That had to have been amazing while it lasted, though. Congrats!
