Battery Safety

Hi! I recently got the 5 string corvette basic active. When I replaced the old battery with a new one, then plugged the bass and turned on the amp (zero volume), the wiring blew up! The store replaced it since I got a defective unit so there's no problem anymore..but now I'm scared leaving the bass with the battery inside when I'm not using it so I remove it every time haha! Is that okay or am I just being paranoid? Please, any advise would be greatly appreciated!
 
I think you don´t have to remove the battery every time you don´t use the bass, I never do that. The only time I remove a battery is when changing for a new one, or when I´m not going to play the bass in a long, long time. Just be sure you unplug the cable to avoid draining the battery.

Removing the battery too much will result in eventually damaging the battery clip. Don't be worried about this happening again, there was probably some problem with the original wiring, probably set in motion by changing the battery. A cable could have got loose and made a short circuit.
