Bass Camp Day 1

The second Warwick and Gitarre & Bass Bass Camp is now in full swing! 80 bass lovers
hailing from 13 nations in total have traveled to Markneukirchen in order to receive
lessons from the crème de la crème of the bass playing world. This year, our roster of
esteemed bass professors comprises Victor Wooten, John Patitucci, Stuart Hamm, Dick
Lövgren, Regi Wooten, Lee Sklar, Steve Bailey, Jonas Hellborg, John B. Williams, Victor
Brandt, Alphonso Johnson, Antonella Mazza, Andy Irvine, Hellmut Hattler,
Wolfgang Schmid, Günther Gebauer and Ove Bosch!


On Monday evening, all students and this year's professors met for the first time at
Hotel Alpenhof. A community dinner in a relaxing atmosphere took place for everyone
to become acquainted with each other, and to get in the mood for a whole five days all
about the bass! The highlight of the evening was brought to us by a very special friend of
the company - none other than long-time Warwick Signature Artist Jäcki Reznicek. The
latest album by Jäcki's band SILLY entitled "Kopf an Kopf" recently went gold. As a token
of his appreciation, Jäcki presented company owner and founder Hans-Peter Wilfer
with the coveted award. All of us at Framus & Warwick feel highly honored!
As the evening started drawing to a close, all students found it increasingly hard to
remain seated. As a result, a highly enjoyable jam session ensued, whose highlight was
definitely the enthralling trio performance by Victor Wooten, Steve Bailey and Victor's
son Adam on drums.

Tuesday saw the first lessons taking place, and their subjects were just as diverse as our
roster of international top-class bassists. Session legend Lee Sklar provided a great deal
of insight into his nearly 40-year career, bass virtuoso extraordinaire Jonas Hellborg fo-
cused on the importance of finding and remaining true to one's musical identity, and
metal juggernauts Victor Brandt and Dick Lövgren aimed to prepare their students for
the skills required by professional touring. One thing is for certain - Bass Camp 2013 could
not have kicked off better! We feel highly honored to be the host of this one-of-a-kind
event that is without equal in all of Europe!

I guess the lack of posts about the Bass Camp on the forum must be due to the lack of forum members attending again!!!! Maybe we should all try harder next year

I am definitely interested for next year and need to start planning now. I have a feeling once I visit Germany again I will not come back to the states. Anyone need a project manager.

Things are pretty good in DE at the moment. You should be able to get a job pretty quickly, even if you speak beginner-to-intermediate German, providing you would relocate...

Adam Wooten is 12, a great drummer and he played with all the greats this weekend.... Was cool! Whole vibe with students and teachers was so cool. And of course all the Warwick gals and guys.
