Hey, new to the forum, and I was wondering something about custom Warwicks....

What is the base price for custom models? The same as the regular bass (ie do you only pay for the options on top of the cost of the regular bass?) or is there some sort of additional service fee, paid because it has been custom made?

I would assume there is a hefty extra fee, but maybe I am wrong? (sorry if this post seems slightly idiotic, just checking....)

i don't think there's an extra fee, you pay only the options you decide to add (and in some case you also get a flight case included :D) 8)
 
No, there is no extra fee for it, you only pay for the options you choose.
 
Well. What can I say.

That is absolutely awesome. I might go for a standard 5 string fretless bubinga corvette, with black hardware, bartolini pickups and active preamp. Maybe something else too, but I might not be able to afford that.......haha.

...that sounds like a hell of a bass! The standard bubinga corvette is one of my faves... but I got a Thumb instead!

Yeah. Depends what I can afford. I have around £900 saved up from work money and that at the minute, but I'm not sure that I "should" spend it all on a bass haha. Maybe, I dunno.

I play a fretted six string Ibanez, but yeah, I want a fretless, and the fretless 6 strings are really expensive, and warwick necks are too thick/wide for me I think.

I really need to try some out. I'm going to London in June to stay with my sister for a week, so maybe I will get a chance then, and order one in July or something.
 
King... staying outside the custom option... check on the Bass Centre (UK) website... something like Basscentre.com. For example, there's a 6-string Proline corvette for something like £1,000 (or not much more)... and Warwick do fretless options free of charge. depends if you like the Proline sound/wood/feel... but it's a non broadneck. You may be able to try out in London (even if you have to try it as a fretted). In comparison, the Thumb NT 6 string is something like £2,300!

If you check out the Bass Centre site, and the options on Warwick's own site, you'll be forewarned and maybe have a few ideas before you get to London. If you can actually get to Bass Centre, may be worth a visit!
 
Already checked that site, bought my head and cab from them. I have never been in the store though hahaha.

I will visit it when I go, for sure.
 
basscentre is a great site to shop from, my JAN 1 arrived within one week :D

I got my Mark Bass stuff from there as well!
 
It's a great shop to go in. They had about 30 Warwicks when I went in there, maybe more.

I cannot wait to get to London in june then!

The biggest shop here has like......4 warwicks in. one thumb, 3 corvettes.
 
CHeck out the gallery too.

I've heard some bad stuff about service in the bass centre lately - not my experience mind - and the Gallery is more popular on the whole.
 
Well, I have like 5 days to do whatever I feel like, so I can guarantee that at least one of them will be spent bass hunting and trying :D

my experience made them seem ill organised and not very professional. worked out good for me...they forgot that i have that second x-treme. :) shush dont tell them :wink:

they did seem like nice people though
