just wondering if anyone knows of the bartoli pickups to fit a corvette $$.
if anyone knows any other pickups that would be good please tell!

whats the sound difference between the bartoli and the MEC?

any links, photos?

all help is greatly appreciated

and i know i probably spelt bartoli wrong

I hear ya, but those Special Edition $$'s look pretty damn sexy with the Barts... :twisted:
 
haha yea. but at first it felt like somtheing was missing. until u step back and take a good look at them. ;)

i doubt it'd look great if you want to replace your pickups with barts on a regular $$ IMHO.
 
well it all comes down to how it sound to me
heck if the bass was made of a milk carton for a body and one of those foam pool noodles for the neck, id play it... if it sounded good :D

but im sure my amp isnt helping. im playing through a labsystem amp this friday. thatl help me decide what im really after.

whats your honest opinion on changing the MEC to the bartolini guys? (obviosly il hold on 2 the old ones)

i looked at the bartolini site and it looks like they dont sell them in pairs ( im not sure)

also, will it still be the active/passive hybrid system with these pickups???

all opinions would be deeply appreciated :)
 
My honest opinion is you should leave it as is if you dont fully understand what putting barts into your bass will do.Give yourself some time getting used to your new bass Justin.Changing things for the sake of it is cool,but do ya need it?
 
I have a Corvette Std. and a Thumb NT on which I changed the J pups from MEC to Bartoini. I also have a Corvette $$ on which I have kept the MEC.

The Bartolinis are passive, so they do maintain the active/passive, but they are slightly warmer and not as hot - the MECs are more aggressive and versatile in tone. In the $$ configuration, combined with the ash body and the versatile electronics, I think the MECs are the perfect way to go. The only thing I don't like about the MECs is that they buzz when in single-coil mode, but that's to be expected. Unless you get a quad-coil MM42CBJD (4-string) or MM52CBJD (5-string), the Bartolinis will also buzz in single-coil mode. I also like the look of the pole-pieces as well on the MEC.

Definitely look into your amp or settings for a tone solution. It's not the MECs that are at fault here. And this, coming from a Bartolini fan!
 
I've debated, and have come very close to, putting Bartolini's in my $$ neck-thru. But as 100% opinion, I don't think I'd put them in my $$ bolt-on. Based on what I've heard, they have a "deeper/fuller" tone, but I think for an ash/ovangkol bass I want the brighter tone of the MECs. Just a thought.
 
Nooo! the Mecs are just fine bro. leave them there. I do not think you will be able to get as aggressive tone with Barts as with the MECs. The other bass man at the church has Barts on his bass and after he bragged about them for a long time, he tried the $$ (mine) and now he wants a Wic the only reason he does not get one is because he says he "can't get accustomed to the neck" he likes the necks of Fenders and EBMMs.

Stay with the original MECs IMHO.
