Ugh Comrades.

So, a few months ago I left the Wick' Family, however I was hoping to be back as soon as possible. And so it's finally done. I received yesterday this amazing Thumb NT4 made in 1987 (February I guess, since the letter is B). It's cool to be back, and even more with my favorite bass ever.

If I find the time, I'll make a real review, until then I can give you these several pictures with one sound-clip, enjoy comrades :

And f1n4lly d4 s0und :

That's it. ;)

Welcome back dude. You always knew there's no escape now did ya?

Nice Thumb, the gold washers on the headstock look like 4 funny eyes. :)

PS: The link to the soundclip is not working.

That's a great buy Paul, looks to be in very good shape, whats that with the tuners? (the round copper things)

Good question about the tuners washers, I don't know either.

Here's the sound-clip, since the link works 50% of the time.

hey bas and paul

those tuner inserts were normal at that time til 1988 but only on the thumb. maybe it was john davis idea to do this. i don't know for what it's good for but it looks cool anyway. my 5er has it too. actually they are out of plastic but slotter24 build so much i know 200 of them for replacing.

so... welcome back paul:)

ok, so that's it, Paul remember to update your signature ;)

Sounds da kewl Morgoth...heh, tbh I nevah played or even tried a Thumb myself, but ya can be sure that on da next occasion....8:

about those tuner inserts: I remember I read on this forum sumwhere that those were indeed on da original vintage Thumbs...iirc Slotter had em made out of sum sort of metal to replace da old (broken ?) plastic onez... like Herbie I think they look kewl ...8:

The tuners on vintage thumbs are angled, so the front of the headstock cannot be plane. Those round washers are to mask this.

I think the washers are kind of fugly, but they do make it special. It sounds very sweet.

Ok, da Soundz. Enjoy Comrades, even though as I'm always stressed when recording... well, it's far from being flawless.

byw...you're getting pretty fast on those 4-stringz of yourz Morgoth, and I dig that little tune called 17-12-51...
did ya write that yo self ?

Thanks mates. Yeah, I wrote everything except, of course, Donna Lee ha-ha.

I'm usually fast, I'm kind of an half-guitarist playing on bass...

Hey buddy! Good to see you own a Thumb again. I tell you it´s the real thing! Nice clips as well! And in case you want to buy your triple pickup banger back, I believe I found it on ebay Germany!!! Just take a look at the heads up thread in the for sale section. Cheers!

Hey thanks mate, yeah, good to be back. As for that Thumb, yes, that's my former one. :-)
