The worst part about these fires is that they didn't start naturally. Some mother♣♣♣♣er actually started them by hand.

hey wazza, real sorry to hear about that.
these fires are one of the worst that we have had, its such a tragedy with the amount of lives and homes that it has taken.

i hope your doing alright dealing with it, and hopefully it doesnt spread any further.

Pretty smokey at my house, and work's had a few little embers dropping today. Its just crazy. We just need rain and lots of it!!

Seems like some of these fires are arson, but also some are natural. Victoria has had 10 years of drought, and after four 40+C days in one week recently, a 46C day with 5% humidity had disaster all over it. However why anyone would deliberately light fires is beyond belief to me, and I don't doubt if found in the act, many aussies wouldn't think twice about taking matters into their own hands to deal with these animals.

Having lost a friend and her sister, and nearly having another mate die on a CFA truck brings this tradgedy pretty close to home - its been a tough week supporting our friendship network. It puts a lot of stuff in perspective too. Really made me realise the most important things are people - houses and possessions can be replaced.

Wazza - thoughts are with your family and I sincerely hope his property is spared - but as long as he's ok, that really is all that matters. I know people will rally to get him back on his feet should the worst happen.

Us aussies will keep you posted - i doubt any of us will be buying new basses for a while though :)

I hear 2 arrests have been made in regard to lighting these fires.
Like ya said Jon,who in their right mind would light a bloody fire in these tinderbox conditions.
The weather's been improving.Showers have finally come & are predicted to continue over the next week or so.There's been some good falls in Sydney & I only hope that you guys are getting some of it too.Everything is really dry & brown. We need rain badly & lots of follow up rain.
If you guys know anyone that's lost their homes & needs accomodation,I have a lounge they can use to sleep on for as long as they need.
You boys take good care of yourselves.

In all the years I've lived in Florida, it's caught fire three times
that I can remember... Reading all the information on the internet
about Australia tonight... All reminding me of WHY I want to join
the Fire/Rescue!

Yeh a few little showers down here, but yeh its still as dry you could get. I don't doubt we'll have many more weeks of fires down here. Very smokey today, and my work was in strange orange glow all day - was hard to see from one side of the school to the other with all the smoke!

thanks for the offer of a lounge - Greg's offer is a great example of the amazing level of good old aussie mateship thats occuring everywhere! Its awesome :)

Yeah - Melbourne is covered in smoke today with an eerie orange glow around the place.

There are still fires raging - and some towns on high alert.

Hopefully things improve quickly, but some more hot weather is forecast, so sadly it's not over yet.

:(
